About Me

The Deaf artist who has gained recognition for his work is Willie Price, born in Washington, DC, Willie was born deaf and grew up in a hearing family. He graduated from Modern Secondary School for the Deaf in DIstrict Columbus, where he received a diploma in 1979 and attended Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, WA.  Currently living in Virginia with his wife and three (3) children.

Willie’s work is primarily focused on drawing and painting, and how his art skills are experienced by Deaf Culture. He uses a variety of mediums, including Watercolor, Charcoal, Alcohol Ink, and more to create works that challenge traditional ideas of visual and emotion.

Willie’s work has been exhibited at numerous galleries and auctions at a few states, including the Museum of Northwest Art in LaConner, WA, also at both DeafNation Expo and Deafopia. In 2023 the month of February, in honor of Black History, Willie was on ABC News shared about Black Art Period for his contributions to the field of Deaf Visual Arts. Check this out.
 

Through his work, Willie has brought attention to the unique experiences of Deaf and Hearing individuals and the importance of inclusivity in arts. His groundbreaking work has inspired countless others to explore the intersections of drawing, painting, and exposure has helped to redefine what it means to be a Deaf artist in the 21st century.
